Douglas Adams
Douglas Noël Adams (1952–2001) was an English author, humorist, and screenwriter best known for creating *The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy*, a comedy series that began as a 1978 radio show and expanded into novels, TV, video games, and a film. He wrote the 'trilogy' of five books in the series, along with *Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency* and other works, selling millions of copies worldwide. Adams died unexpectedly of a heart attack at age 49 while living in Santa Barbara, California.
