Dorothy Garlock
Dorothy Garlock was a prolific American author of romantic novels, particularly known for her historical romances set in the American South, Southwest, and Depression-era Dust Bowl, with over 20 million books in print worldwide and translated into 18 languages.[1][2][6] Born in Texas, she began her writing career in 1976 after working as a bookkeeper and columnist for a local newspaper, achieving unexpected success with more than 50 novels under pen names including Dorothy Glenn, Dorothy Phillips, and Johanna Phillips.[1][2][5] She lived in Clear Lake, Iowa, from 1955 until her death in 2018, earning numerous awards for her work.[1][2][5]
