Dorothy Chlad

Dorothy Chlad is a nursery school teacher who expanded and transformed the Safety Town program in 1964 in Bedford, Ohio into a comprehensive safety education initiative for preschool and early childhood children.[2] She founded the National Safety Town Center in 1964 to promote the program, which officially became a non-profit, volunteer organization in 1974.[2] Chlad is the author of multiple Safety Town books that teach children about fire safety, traffic safety, water safety, and other critical safety lessons.[1]
