Donnchadh Ó Corrain PhD

Donnchadh Ó Corráin (1942–2017) was an Irish historian and Professor Emeritus of Medieval History at University College Cork, where he earned his BA in history and Irish in 1964.[1] He was a prominent scholar of early Irish and medieval history, with key publications on Viking wars, pre-Hiberno-Norman Ireland, and Irish language name origins, and he founded the CELT project in 1992.[1][2] Ó Corráin challenged orthodoxies, highlighting Ireland's engagement with European intellectual life in the early medieval period.[3]
