Donna Thorland

Donna Thorland is an American author of historical fiction and urban fantasy novels, known for her works such as The Turncoat, The Rebel Pirate, Mistress Firebrand, and The Dutch Girl under her name, and Cold Iron, Silver Skin, Stone Song, and Blade Dance as DL McDermott. A native of Bergenfield, New Jersey, she graduated from Yale University with a degree in Classics and Art History, earned an MFA in film production from USC School of Cinematic Arts, and worked at the Peabody Essex Museum. She has also written for television, including the WGN drama SALEM.
