Donald Kagan
Donald Kagan (1932–2021) was a Lithuanian-born American historian and classicist, renowned for his expertise in ancient Greek history, particularly his four-volume history of the Peloponnesian War. He taught at Yale University for over four decades, serving as Sterling Professor Emeritus of Classics and History, and previously at Cornell University. Kagan authored influential works like 'On the Origins of War and the Preservation of Peace' and received the National Humanities Medal in 2002.
