Dipankar Das

Dipankar Das Sarma, popularly known as D.D. Sarma, is an Indian scientist and structural chemist renowned for his research in Solid State Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Condensed Matter Physics, Materials Science, and Nanoscience. Born on 15 September 1955 in Kolkata, West Bengal, he earned an integrated M.Sc. in Physics from IIT Kanpur in 1977 and a PhD from IISc Bengaluru in 1982 under C.N.R. Rao. His work includes discovering new phases in solid state materials using high-energy spectroscopies and theory, with over 20,000 citations and an h-index of 43.
