Dawn Simmons
Dawn Langley Pepita Simmons (1922–2000) was an English author and biographer who was born Gordon Langley Hall and lived her first decades as a male before undergoing gender reassignment surgery in 1968[1][2]. She wrote over 20 celebrity biographies, three autobiographies, novels, and children's books, including the notable work 'Man into woman: A transsexual autobiography'[1][5]. After her surgery, she married her former chauffeur in South Carolina, becoming part of the first legal interracial marriage in the state[2].
