David Reich

David Reich is a professor of genetics at Harvard Medical School and human evolutionary biology at Harvard University, renowned for his pioneering work in ancient DNA analysis to uncover human population history and migrations. Born and raised in the Washington D.C. area, he earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Harvard College in 1996 and a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford in 1999, before joining Harvard faculty in 2003, becoming tenured in 2011, and an HHMI Investigator in 2013. His research integrates genetics, population structure, and ancient DNA to reveal admixture events, Neanderthal interbreeding, and genetic risk factors for diseases.
