David Rains Wallace

David Rains Wallace is an acclaimed American author of over sixteen books on conservation and natural history, known for works like *The Klamath Knot*, which won the 1984 John Burroughs Medal and a California Book Award. Born in 1945 in Charlottesville, Virginia, he grew up in New England, earned a B.A. from Wesleyan University in 1967 and an M.A. from Mills College in 1974, and has lived most of his life in California with his wife, artist Elizabeth Kendall. His writing has appeared in publications such as *National Geographic*, *Harper's Magazine*, and *The New York Times*, and he has also authored environmentally themed novels.
