David Lee
David Lee is an American poet known for his narrative poems in the voices of rural southwest people, author of over two dozen volumes including So Quietly the Earth and Driving & Drinking. A former seminary candidate, semi-pro baseball player, and hog farmer with a Ph.D. focused on John Milton, he taught at Southern Utah University for three decades, serving as its first Poet Laureate from 1997 to 2002 and a finalist for U.S. Poet Laureate in 2001. He grew up in west Texas and has received numerous awards, including fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and multiple Pulitzer nominations.
