David Albahari

David Albahari was a renowned Serbian novelist, translator, and academic of Jewish origin, known for his introspective and complex prose that often explored themes of the Holocaust and personal identity. Born in Peć, Yugoslavia, in 1948, he emigrated to Canada in 1994, later returning to Serbia, where he passed away in 2023 after a long illness. His works, including 'Mamac' and 'Porodično vreme', have been translated into over twenty languages and earned him prestigious awards such as the Ivo Andrić Prize.
