David A. Phoenix
David A. Phoenix studied biochemistry at the University of Liverpool and obtained a mathematics degree part-time from the Open University before specializing in molecular engineering and the structure-function relationships of amphiphilic biomolecules. He was appointed a chair in Biochemistry in 2000, is renowned for designing antimicrobial peptides earning him a Higher Doctorate from Liverpool University, and has held visiting chairs internationally including at King's College London and Sichuan University. In July 2025, he became Vice-Chancellor of The Open University.[1]
