David A. Carter is an American author, illustrator, and paper engineer best known for his innovative pop-up books for children and adults. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he studied illustration at Utah State University and later worked in graphic design and advertising before developing a prolific career in pop-up bookmaking, including the bestselling Bugs series.
