Darwin Porter, born September 13, 1937, in Greensboro, North Carolina, is a distinguished American travel writer, celebrity biographer, and novelist with over 50 years in the field, best known for Frommer's guidebooks and controversial Hollywood biographies. A former journalist, he covered Cuban guerrilla training camps in 1960 and interviewed luminaries like Eleanor Roosevelt, Robert Frost, Tennessee Williams, Harry S. Truman, and Lucille Ball. He earned a B.A. from the University of Miami in 1959 and received awards such as the Silver Award from the International Film and Television Festival of New York in 1977.
