Danielle Daniel

Danielle Daniel is an award-winning Canadian author, illustrator, actress, storyteller, and educator known for her children's picture books, middle-grade novels, and adult fiction inspired by her Indigenous ancestry and connection to the land. She grew up in Sudbury, Ontario (Atikameksheng Anishnawbek), with family roots tracing to a Quebec Algonquin ancestor, and her works like *Sometimes I Feel Like a Fox* (Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award winner) and *Daughters of the Deer* reflect environmental concerns and Indigenous stewardship. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, lives on Manitoulin Island, and launched her own children's publishing house, Mighty Village Books, in 2025.
