Dalgliesh

Alice Dalgliesh (1893–1979) was a naturalized American author and publisher who wrote over 40 fiction and non-fiction books primarily for children, pioneering children's historical fiction. She served as the founding editor of Scribner's Children's Book Division from 1934 and was the first president of the Children's Book Council. Three of her books were Newbery Honor runners-up: The Silver Pencil, The Bears on Hemlock Mountain, and The Courage of Sarah Noble.[1][3][7]
