Dabney Stuart

Walker Dabney Stuart III (born November 4, 1937, in Richmond, Virginia) is an American poet, academic, and professor emeritus of English at Washington and Lee University. He earned a BA from Davidson College in 1960 and an MA from Harvard University in 1962, and has published over twenty books of poetry, fiction, and criticism, with work appearing in journals like Poetry, Shenandoah, and Yale Review. Stuart has received numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1987, multiple National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, and Pulitzer nominations.
