D. McKee

David McKee (1935–2022) was a British writer, illustrator, and creator of iconic children's books including Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, Mr. Benn, Not Now, Bernard, and King Rollo. Born in Devon, England, he studied at Plymouth and Hornsey Colleges of Art, served in the British Army, and began his career with cartoons for newspapers and Punch before achieving success in children's literature.[1][2]
