Cynthia Kadohata
Cynthia Kadohata is a Japanese American author born in Chicago in 1956, best known for her young adult novel Kira-Kira, which won the Newbery Medal in 2005. She is also the recipient of the 2013 National Book Award for The Thing About Luck and has written numerous acclaimed children's and adult novels exploring themes of coming-of-age, self-discovery, and the Japanese-American experience, particularly during and after World War II.
