Cuthbert Hamilton (editor) Ellis

Cuthbert Hamilton Ellis (29 June 1909 – 29 June 1987), known as C. Hamilton Ellis or 'Chip', was an English railway writer, historian, and self-taught painter born in Petersfield, Hampshire. He wrote over 40 books on British railways, including histories of major lines like the London and South Western Railway, and was a pioneer in the study of carriages and model railways [1][2]. Ellis was educated at Westminster School and Exeter College, Oxford, and worked for publications such as Country Life and Railway Magazine [2].
