Cornelius Tacitus
Publius Cornelius Tacitus was a Roman historian and politician widely regarded as one of the greatest Roman historians. He rose through the ranks of Roman government to become consul in 97 AD and later Proconsul of Asia in 112 AD. His major historical works, the Annals and Histories, provide a continuous narrative of the Roman Empire from the death of Augustus to the end of Domitian's reign, and he is also known for his ethnographic work Germania and biography of his father-in-law Agricola.
