Clive Foss
Clive Foss is a historian and Professor Emeritus at Georgetown University, where he taught history before retiring.[1][2] He has held teaching positions at the University of Massachusetts (Boston), University of Lyon, Harvard, and Berkeley, and now lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he collects coins and writes on Byzantine and Ottoman topics.[1][3] Foss is renowned for his works on late antique, Byzantine, and Turkish cities, including Ephesus after Antiquity (1979) and Byzantine and Turkish Sardis (1976), emphasizing the integration of archaeological evidence in Byzantine studies.[4][5][7]
