Clayton C. Anderson is a retired NASA astronaut, engineer, and author who spent 167 days in space across two missions to the International Space Station, including six spacewalks totaling 38 hours and 28 minutes. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he joined NASA in 1983 as an engineer, applied 15 times before being selected as an astronaut in 1998, and retired in 2013 after 30 years of service. He now serves as a motivational speaker, STEM ambassador, and Professor of Practice in Aerospace Engineering at Iowa State University.
