Christian Behl

Christian Behl is a German scientist and Professor of Pathobiochemistry at the University Medical Center of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, where he serves as Chair and Director of the Institute of Pathobiochemistry.[1][2] His research focuses on neurodegeneration in age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS, particularly molecular mechanisms like autophagy and proteostasis.[1][5] He studied Biology at Julius Maximilian University Würzburg, earning his Diplom in 1988 and PhD in Neurobiology in 1991, followed by a habilitation in 1999, and has held positions at the Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry and the Salk Institute.[2][3][4]
