Charly Evon Simpson

Charly Evon Simpson is a Black American playwright, TV writer, and teacher based in Brooklyn. Her plays explore themes of race, sexism, grief, depression, and coming-of-age experiences, including works such as Behind the Sheet (a New York Times Critics' Pick), Jump, and form of a girl unknown. She has worked in television for major networks including Showtime, HBO, and Netflix, and has taught playwriting at Fordham University, SUNY Purchase, and Hunter College.
