Charles W. Johnson is an American author, philosopher, and professor emeritus at the University of Washington, renowned for his novels such as 'Middle Passage' and 'Oxherding Tale,' which blend Eastern and Western philosophy with African American narratives. He is also a former cartoonist, illustrator, and screenwriter who has received numerous accolades including the National Book Award, a MacArthur Fellowship, and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
