Charles T. Mathewes
Charles T. Mathewes is the Carolyn M. Barbour Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Virginia, specializing in Christian theology, religious ethics, philosophy of religion, and comparative religious ethics.[1][4] He earned his B.A. from Georgetown University and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, and is the author of books including Evil and the Augustinian Tradition, A Theology of Public Life, Understanding Religious Ethics, and The Republic of Grace.[2][6] Mathewes has produced lecture series for The Teaching Company such as Why Evil Exists and Books That Matter: The City of God, and serves on the House of Bishops Theology Committee of the Episcopal Church.[1][2]
