Charles Santore

Charles Santore (1935-2019) was a renowned American illustrator born in South Philadelphia to an Italian-Irish family, who graduated from the Philadelphia Museum School of Art in 1956 and began his career as a freelance illustrator for magazines like TV Guide, Saturday Evening Post, and Life.[1][2][4] He gained national acclaim with his 1972 TV Guide cover featuring Columbo and later became celebrated for children's book illustrations including The Wizard of Oz, Aesop’s Fables, Peter Rabbit, and works by the Brothers Grimm.[1][2][6] His artwork earned awards like the Society of Illustrators Award of Excellence and was exhibited at major museums.[2]
