Charles Louis Gay

Charles Louis Gay (1815–1892) was a French bishop, ascetical theologian, and spiritual writer known for his influential works on Christian virtues and mysticism. After a youthful period of religious indifference, he converted following the sermons of Lacordaire, was ordained a priest in 1845, and later became auxiliary bishop of Poitiers. He is often regarded as one of the greatest mystics of the 19th century in France.
