Cathy J. Busby

Cathy J. Busby is a distinguished geologist and Professor Emerita at UC Davis Earth and Planetary Sciences, specializing in field geology, stratigraphy, paleogeography, structural geology, sedimentology, and volcanology. She earned her B.S. from UC Berkeley in 1977 and Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1983, advancing to Full Professor at UC Santa Barbara in 1993 and receiving the 2020 Distinguished Geologic Career Award from the Geological Society of America. A first-generation college student, she has held positions at multiple institutions and served on the advisory board of the California Geological Survey.
