Catherine De Hueck Doherty

Catherine de Hueck Doherty (1896–1985) was a Russian-born Catholic activist and spiritual writer who founded the Madonna House Apostolate in 1947 and pioneered the struggle for interracial justice in North America[1][2]. She authored over thirty books blending Eastern and Western spirituality, including the classic *Poustinia*, and was declared a Servant of God when her cause for beatification was introduced in 2000[1][3].
