Carolyn L. Rose

Carolyn L. Rose (March 24, 1949 – August 29, 2002) was an American archaeological conservator who worked for the Smithsonian Institution and was one of the first ethnographic conservators in the United States[2]. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and raised in Washington, Pennsylvania, before becoming a major force in promoting preventive conservation, advocacy, and training in the field[2][4]. Rose died after a courageous battle with cancer on August 29, 2002[3].
