Caine Prize

The Caine Prize is not an author but an annual literary award for the best short story by an African writer in English, founded in 2000 in the United Kingdom. It is named in memory of Sir Michael Harris Caine (1927–1999), a businessman and philanthropist who served as chairman of Booker plc and the Booker Prize management committee. Often called the 'African Booker,' it awards £10,000 and aims to promote African writing to a wider audience.
