C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) was an Irish-born British scholar, novelist, and author of approximately 40 books, best known for The Chronicles of Narnia series and works on Christian apologetics. Once an avowed atheist, he converted to Christianity in 1929 and became one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, serving as a professor of English literature at Oxford and Cambridge.
