Rinker Buck is an American author and journalist best known for his memoir *Flight of Passage* (1997), which recounts his cross-country flight at age 15 with his brother. He has written other bestselling books including *The Oregon Trail* and *Life on the Mississippi*, chronicling epic American adventures by wagon and flatboat. Born in Morristown, New Jersey, he began his career at the Berkshire Eagle and was a longtime staff writer for the Hartford Courant.[1][2][3][6]
