A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, born Abhay Charan De, was an Indian spiritual teacher, author, and translator who founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in 1966.[1][13] He is best known for spreading Krishna consciousness and the Hare Krishna movement internationally through his writings, lectures, and missionary work.[1][3]
