Bernice Rubens

Bernice Rubens was a Welsh novelist and documentary filmmaker best known for winning the 1970 Booker Prize for *The Elected Member*, making her the first woman to receive the award. Her fiction often explored family life, Jewish identity, and social tension, and she published more than 20 novels during her career.
