Bernd Heinrich
Bernd Heinrich is a professor emeritus of biology at the University of Vermont and a renowned naturalist author known for his contributions to insect physiology, bird behavior, and nature writing. Born in Germany in 1940 after fleeing Poland during World War II, he has authored over 24 books and 200 scientific papers, earning recognition as one of the finest naturalist authors of his generation. Additionally, he was a competitive ultramarathoner who set multiple U.S. records during the 1980s and was inducted into the American Ultrarunning Hall of Fame in 2007.
