Bernard Waber
Bernard Waber (1921–2013) was an American children's author and illustrator best known for the Lyle the Crocodile series, beginning with The House on East 88th Street (1962). He grew up during the Depression in Philadelphia and served in World War II before studying art on the GI Bill, eventually publishing over 30 children's books that sold 1.75 million copies.
