Benito Perez Galdos

Benito Pérez Galdós was a leading Spanish realist novelist and politician, widely regarded as the greatest Spanish novelist after Miguel de Cervantes. Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, he moved to Madrid to study law and became a master of social realism and psychological insight, producing an extensive body of work that chronicled 19th-century Spanish society. His novels, such as 'Doña Perfecta' and 'Episodios Nacionales', are celebrated for their detailed character development and critical social commentary.
