Ben Brierley

Benjamin Brierley (1825–1896) was a prominent Lancashire dialect writer, poet, and novelist born in Failsworth near Manchester to a handloom weaver father who was a Waterloo veteran present at Peterloo. He began his literary career with pieces like 'A Day Out' in the Manchester Spectator and became known for his works in local dialect, later working as a writer and publisher. His humble beginnings in a village school shaped his authentic portrayals of working-class life.[1][4][6]
