Beatriz Caiuby Labate
Beatriz Caiuby Labate, known as Bia Labate, is a Brazilian anthropologist with a Ph.D. in social anthropology from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), specializing in psychoactive substances, drug policy, shamanism, ritual, religion, and social justice.[1][2] She is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines, a Senior Advisor at MAPS, and co-founder of NEIP in Brazil, having authored or co-edited over 28 books on these topics.[1][4] Based in San Francisco as a queer Brazilian, she advocates for sacred plants, marginalized communities, and psychedelic justice.[1][4]
