Barbara Taylor Bradford
Barbara Taylor Bradford OBE (1933–2024) was a British-American best-selling novelist known for her debut *A Woman of Substance* (1979), which sold over 30 million copies and became one of the top-ten best-selling novels ever. She authored 40 novels about ambitious women rising from humble beginnings, translated into 40 languages and selling over 90 million copies worldwide, with ten adapted into TV miniseries. Born in Leeds, she began as a journalist at age 16 for the Yorkshire Evening Post and later worked on Fleet Street.[1][2][3]
