Barbara Hodgson
Barbara L. Hodgson is a Canadian book designer, illustrator, and novelist known for blending text, drawings, maps, and handwritten notes to create mysterious, mixed-format tales like The Lives of Shadows and Hippolyte's Island. She founded Byzantium Books with Nick Bantock and has also published nonfiction works on opium, morphine, rats, and women travelers. Born in 1955 in Edmonton, Alberta, she holds a B.A. from Simon Fraser University and a graphic design diploma from Capilano College.
