Barbara Brenner
Barbara Brenner (born Barbara Lawrence) was an award-winning American author of children's fiction and nonfiction, specializing in books about animals, nature, ecology, and American history, with notable works like 'A Snake-Lover's Diary' and 'Voices: Poetry and Art from around the World.' Born in Brooklyn, New York, she attended Seton Hall and Rutgers Universities while working as a copy editor, later becoming a writer and editor for Bank Street College of Education after raising her two children. She began her literary career with 'Somebody’s Slippers, Somebody’s Shoes' in 1957 and received awards including ALA Notable Book recognitions.
