Aubrey Burl

Harry Aubrey Woodruff Burl (1926–2020) was a British archaeologist renowned for his extensive studies of megalithic monuments, stone circles, and prehistoric rituals in Britain, Ireland, and northern France.[1][2] After serving in the Royal Navy and teaching Latin, he became Principal Lecturer in Archaeology at Hull College and authored over 23 books, starting with 'The Stone Circles of the British Isles' in 1976.[1][2] Called 'the leading authority on British stone circles' by The New York Times, his work inspired generations of enthusiasts.[1][4]
