Arthur W Upfield
Arthur William Upfield (1890-1964) was an English-Australian author best known for his detective fiction featuring the part-Aboriginal, part-European Detective Inspector Napoleon 'Bony' Bonaparte of the Queensland Police. Born in Gosport, England, he immigrated to Australia, where his diverse experiences as a boundary rider and in scientific expeditions deeply influenced his vivid portrayals of the Australian outback. Upfield wrote 29 Bony mysteries between 1929 and 1966, achieving critical success particularly in America.
