Arthur Kingsley Porter

Arthur Kingsley Porter was an American archaeologist, art historian, and medievalist who revolutionized the understanding of Romanesque sculpture and its diffusion across Europe. He served as a professor at Harvard University and was the first American scholar of Romanesque architecture to achieve international recognition. Porter disappeared in 1933 while staying at his fishing cottage on Inishbofin, Ireland, and was later ruled to have died by misadventure.
