"Anonymous Author" is a pseudonym typically used for works where the author's identity is intentionally undisclosed or unknown, a practice common in literature especially during the 18th century when over 80% of British novels were published anonymously. Notable examples include ancient works like Beowulf and The Arabian Nights, as well as modern instances such as A Woman in Berlin by an anonymous German journalist during the fall of Berlin. In legal terms, particularly in US copyright law, anonymous works are protected for 95 years from publication or 120 years from creation.
